This season hasn't been kind to the Central Heights Vikings, who are still winless after their fifth match. They suffered a rough 43-22 defeat at the hands of Lyndon on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Central Heights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 307th, while Lyndon is ranked 128th).
Central Heights' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Melaney Chrisjohn, who scored seven points along with six steals, and Macy Cubit who scored ten points. Chrisjohn has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sydney Evans, who scored two points along with three steals.
Central Heights' loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-5. As for Lyndon, their victory ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Heights will challenge Mission Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Mission Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Tuesday. As for Lyndon, they will head out on the road to face off against Osage City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
