Baker was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in 6A Region 1. Earlier in the week, the Hornets defeated Blount 21-7.
McGill-Toolen extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Murphy, 50-21. This was the team's 10th consecutive win.
Forrest Anderson and Berron Tyson gave Baker a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Anderson threw for 54 yards and two touchdowns, while Tyson ran for 237 yards. Anderson also contributed to the rushing game with 34 yards on the ground.
Leon Williams was the best wideout in the league this week as the Panthers fell to McGill-Toolen. Williams racked up one reception for 29 yards. Torian Williams helped Murphy's passing attack out by catching one ball for 17 yards.
Murphy's Kameron Maye and Michael Hudson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 6A Region 1 in both passing and receiving yards. Maye has thrown for 426 yards this season, while Hudson, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 21 catches for 332 yards. The Hornets' Tyson leads the league in rushing yards with 1587.
