On Saturday, the Thunder Basin Bolts faced the East Thunderbirds in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Thunder Basin ended up on the wrong side of a tough 59-35 walloping at the hands of East. The contest was a close 22-21 at the break, but unfortunately for Thunder Basin it sure didn't stay that way.
Thunder Basin lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kambel Cox, who scored ten points along with three steals and two blocks. Allie Rodgers was another key contributor, scoring six points along with ten rebounds.
Thunder Basin's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-10. As for East, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 18-2.
Thunder Basin will head out on the road to challenge Natrona County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East, they will be playing at home against Laramie at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. East is coming into the matchup with nine straight wins at home, so Laramie is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
