The Manchester Lancers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 24 points or more this season. They took their match at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 87-48 victory over Cosby. The win was familiar territory for Manchester who now have four in a row.
Mia Woolfolk was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Manchester's points. Another player making a difference was Rayne Wright, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds.
Cosby lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ellie Talley, who scored nine points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Talley has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Eryn Lily, who scored eight points.
Even though they lost, Cosby were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Manchester only racked up 22 assists.
Manchester pushed their record up to 5-1 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Cosby, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Manchester will head out on the road to face off against Midlothian at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Midlothian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 144th, while Manchester is ranked 13th). As for Cosby, they will be playing at home against Monacan at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Monacan is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56.7 points per game.
