The West Clermont Wolves will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Northwest Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. West Clermont will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 689th, while Northwest is ranked 335th).
West Clermont fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Harrison on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Wildcats 52-48. West Clermont has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
West Clermont's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Rayshawn Hubbard, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, and Cameron Strause who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. The contest was Hubbard's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Daeveon Benett was another key contributor, scoring four points.
West Clermont struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Northwest, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 69-53 loss to Colerain on Friday.
West Clermont's record is now 1-7. Northwest's record is now 4-4.
