Harlandale is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Alamo Heights is on a seven-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Harlandale Indians will take on the Alamo Heights Mules at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Harlandale has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 244 points over their last five matches.
Last Friday, Harlandale blew past Highlands, posting a 59-6 victory on the road. With Harlandale ahead 52-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Jacob Saucedo continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 169 yards and five touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Joseph Esparza was another key contributor, picking up 84 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Alamo Heights got themselves on the board against Jefferson on Friday, but Jefferson never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Mustangs 50-0 at home. Given Alamo Heights' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 276th, while Jefferson is ranked 765th), the result wasn't exactly an upset.
Their wins bumped Harlandale to 5-1 and Alamo Heights to 6-0.
Harlandale was taken down by Alamo Heights 48-0 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Harlandale have more luck at home instead of on the road?
