The North Greene Spartans will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Unity/Seymour Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: North Greene has struggled recently with 17 defeats in a row, while Unity/Seymour will arrive with four straight victories.
Last Friday, North Greene came up short against Beardstown and fell 38-26.
Logan Tepen put forth a good effort for the losing side as he threw for 265 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.6 yards per attempt. Garret Hazelwonder was another key contributor, picking up 129 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Unity/Seymour took their matchup at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 41-6 victory over Pleasant Hill/Western. The result was nothing new for Unity/Seymour, who have now won three contests by 35 points or more so far this season.
North Greene's defeat was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.33 points per game. Unity/Seymour has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
North Greene took a serious blow against Unity/Seymour when the teams last played back in August of 2022, falling 48-6. Will North Greene have more luck at home instead of on the road?
