Volleyball Recap: Bell Comes Up Short

After flying high against Hilliard on Thursday, Bell came back down to earth. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Crescent City Raiders by a score of 2-1 on Friday. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 2-1 to the Raiders when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Bell sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 27-29, 15-13.

Despite the loss, Bell still got an impressive performance from Canaan Johnson, who had 20 assists and six digs. Johnson has been hot, having posted 13 or more assists the last six times she's played.

Leading Crescent City to victory were Reagan Chayer and Bethany Robinson. Chayer had eight digs and seven assists, while Robinson had 12 digs. Robinson also served an ace, marking her first of the season.

Bell now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Crescent City, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-4.

Coincidentally, Bell and Crescent City will both be playing Countryside Christian the next time they take the court. The Bulldogs will host the Minutemen at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Raiders will play them later in the day, at 11:15 a.m.
