Layla Wright made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Wright was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Sterling got a massive performance out of Lily Martinez, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs Martinez has posted since back in May of 2024. Mya Lira also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Nicole Carman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Emersyn Rasso, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Sterling pushed their record up to 17-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Moline, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-16.
Sterling skirted past Moline 8-7 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
