When it comes to explaining why Hobbton lost, don't look at Reginald Thompson. Despite the final result, he rushed for 221 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Thompson's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 102 rushing yards. Amir Tate helped out on the ground, rushing for 80 yards.
North Duplin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carell Phillips, who rushed for 132 yards and one score on only nine carries. Phillips really tore up the turf during one magnificent 86-yard run. Jayden Pope was another key player, rushing for 91 yards and one TD on only ten carries.
Hobbton's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 6-4. As for North Duplin, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Hobbton will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lakewood on the 14th. North Duplin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
