Softball Recap: Eminence Has No Trouble Against Irvington Preparatory Academy

Eminence's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over Irvington Preparatory Academy. Considering the Eels have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Emma Webb was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Khloee Kirk, who fired off three triples, three runs, and one stolen base while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Jillian Henderson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Eminence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .567. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Eminence's record is now 11-6. As for Irvington Preparatory Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Eminence didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 8-3 win against Eastern Greene on the 19th. As for Irvington Preparatory Academy, they will take on Indianapolis Washington at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
