Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Adams Central Patriots, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They suffered a rough 34-8 defeat at the hands of Ashland-Greenwood on Friday. Adams Central was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 20-0.
Jayden Teichmeier threw for 45 yards and a touchdown. Jack Trausch was his top target, picking up 38 receiving yards and a touchdown.
It was another big night for Drake Zimmerman, who rushed for 194 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Zimmerman was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 62 yards. Dane Jacobsen was another key player, having thrown for 280 yards and two touchdowns.
Adams Central's loss dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Ashland-Greenwood, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
Adams Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Ashland-Greenwood will take on Boone Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Boone Central is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
