WPIAL AAAA Foothills recap November 5, 2013
Altoona scaled the state rankings by moving to 209 from 262 this week, the biggest jump in WPIAL AAAA Foothills.
McKeesport added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Peters Township, 54-28. The victory was the 10th in a row for the Tigers.
Mikell Moore provided a threat through the air and on the ground as McKeesport bested the Indians.
Moore was a force in the backfield as George Smith's team beat Peters Township.
Joe Brungo was the best receiver in the league this week as Kiski Area lost to Upper St. Clair. Brungo tallied 5 receptions for 60 yards.
Leading WPIAL AAAA Foothills in both passing and receiving yards, the Cavaliers' Chad Kuhn and Brungo have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-1 quarterback Kuhn has thrown for 1,065 yards this season, while Brungo has 37 catches for 423 yards. Hempfield Area's Joey DeFloria leads the league in rushing yards with 1,397.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Penn-Trafford takes on the Tigers. At the moment, the Warriors are in third, while McKeesport is in first.
Kiski Area fell to the Panthers 44-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. Patrick Turner ran for 107 yards in the loss.
