The Sonora Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 57-47 to Burbank. While losing is never fun, Sonora can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 956th, while Burbank is ranked 331st).
Sonora's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jack Sarina, who scored 19 points. Sarina continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Roger Edwards, who scored 8 points along with 7 rebounds.
Michael Butcher was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points for Burbank. Paris Clay was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Sonora's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Burbank, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Sonora will be playing in front of their home fans against Lathrop at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Burbank will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Beyer at 5:00 p.m. on December 7th.
