IV Section III recap September 24, 2013
Estrella Foothills's Mason Benfield rumbled for the longest rushing play in IV Section III this season in his game against Fountain Hills last week. Benfield scampered for 66 yards on the play and finished with 87 on the day as his team topped the Falcons.
Parker took down San Luis 46-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. CJ Markel ran for 106 yards in the win.
Wickenburg's dynamic duo of Charles Johnson and Cloud Fritts proved to be unstoppable against Bourgade Catholic, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Johnson threw for 120 yards and Fritts had 69 yards receiving. Jake Vandever helped Wickenburg's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 24 yards.
The Wranglers' dynamic duo of Johnson and Fritts proved tough for the Golden Eagles to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Joe Logan was a force in the backfield as Estrella Foothills beat Fountain Hills.
Logan provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Lamar Early's team bested Jim Fairfield's team.
Fritts was the best receiver in the league this week as Wickenburg fell to Bourgade Catholic.
Johnson put up the best numbers through the air as Craig Johnson's team lost to Pat Lavin's team.
Logan was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 280 yards on 18 carries as the Wolves lost to the Golden Eagles.
Wickenburg's Johnson and Fritts have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading IV Section III in both passing and receiving yards. Johnson has thrown for 507 yards this season, while Fritts, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 15 catches for 236 yards. Estrella Foothills' Logan leads the league in rushing yards with 719.
The Wolves made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,642 from 6,722. The improvement was the result of 42-34 victory over the Falcons last week.
