Omaha Central hasn't had much luck against Papillion-LaVista recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Eagles will face off against the Monarchs at 12:30 p.m. Omaha Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Omaha Central duked it out with Bellevue West on Friday. The Eagles walked away with a 7-2 win over the Thunderbirds. The game was the first time the Eagles have beaten the Thunderbirds on their field since April 11, 2017.

Joe Sullivan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Oscar Yuhas-Vining, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Marcus Kane was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Papillion-LaVista got themselves on the board against Gretna on Friday, but Gretna never followed suit. They skirted past the Dragons 2-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Monarchs.
Gretna's batters probably weren't too happy with Brett Hoelscher, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 12 Ks (he gave up a single walk).
At the plate, Papillion-LaVista let Jaxson Povich and Easton Schneider run wild. Povich went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two RBI, while Schneider went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.
Omaha Central has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-13 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Papillion-LaVista, their record is now 16-10.
Omaha Central came up short against Papillion-LaVista when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 3-0. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
