The McDonogh Eagles will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Mount St. Joseph Gaels at 12:30 p.m. McDonogh will be strutting in after a victory while Mount St. Joseph will be coming in after a loss.
Last Saturday, McDonogh strolled past Gilman with points to spare, taking the game 21-7. The win made it back-to-back wins for McDonogh.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McDonogh to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chase Green, who rushed for 170 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Jefferson Exinor jr, who picked up 120 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Mount St. Joseph faced Archbishop Spalding in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Mount St. Joseph was beaten by Archbishop Spalding 42-3 on Friday. Mount St. Joseph's defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
McDonogh is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Mount St. Joseph, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
McDonogh came up short against Mount St. Joseph in their previous matchup back in October, falling 26-20. Can McDonogh avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
