Lawrence Academy has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Albemarle School Colts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Lawrence Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Wednesday.
Lawrence Academy can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent game. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 53-20 win over Northeast Academy. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Lawrence Academy had established a 30 point advantage.
Lawrence Academy found their leader in underclassman Mari Larry, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals. Larry hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Nike Wiggins, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Albemarle School, who are still winless after their 20th matchup. They had to suffer through a rough 79-23 loss at the hands of Ridgecroft. While losing is never fun, Albemarle School can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 692nd, while the Rams are ranked 340th).
Despite the loss, Albemarle School got a solid performance out of Luke Soule, who scored six points along with five steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Albemarle School struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Ridgecroft posted 11 assists.
Lawrence Academy pushed their record up to 15-6 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points per game. As for Albemarle School, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-20.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Lawrence Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 64.8 points per game. It's a different story for Albemarle School, though, as they've been averaging only 31.6 points per game. The only thing between Lawrence Academy and another offensive beatdown is the Colts. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Everything came up roses for Lawrence Academy against the Colts in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 77-21 win. With Lawrence Academy ahead 48-7 at the half, the match was all but over already.
