After three games on the road, Union Christian Day is heading back home. They will take on the Hawthorne Christian Academy Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
On Saturday, Union Christian Day came up short against Lighthouse Christian Academy and fell 63-50.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Eli Gage, who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Landon Gregory, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Hawthorne Christian Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success back in December of 2023. They walked away with an 87-74 win over Lighthouse Christian. The victory was just what Hawthorne Christian Academy needed coming off of a 82-52 loss in their prior matchup.
Hawthorne Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Clay Ballard out in front who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ballard has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Clinton, who scored 24 points.
Union Christian Day's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Hawthorne Christian Academy, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Union Christian Day hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 54.9 points per game. However, it's not like Hawthorne Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 60.2 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Everything came up roses for Union Christian Day against Hawthorne Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2021 as the squad secured a 106-31 win.
