Baseball Recap: Southampton Wins Going Away Against Brunswick

Southampton had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Brunswick on Wednesday. The Indians blew past the Bulldogs 13-1. Considering the Indians have won eight matches by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Andrew Hinson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gannon Ritter, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Southampton has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Brunswick, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Southampton will square off against Surry County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Brunswick will be paying especially close attention to the Indians' matchup: after the Indians face off against the Cougars, they'll take on Brunswick again at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
