Hillgrove has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Douglas County Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hillgrove has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 395 points over their last six games.
Even though New Manchester scored an imposing 66 points on Friday, Hillgrove still came out on top. Hillgrove secured a 71-66 W over New Manchester. Given Hillgrove's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while New Manchester is ranked 305th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, even though Villa Rica scored an imposing 59 points on Saturday, Douglas County still came out on top. Douglas County snuck past Villa Rica with a 65-59 victory. The win was just business as usual for Douglas County, who after three games remain undefeated this season.
Among those leading the charge was Justin Jones, who scored 17 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kory Young jr., who scored 11 points.
Holy Innocents Episcopal's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Hillgrove's loss dropped theirs to 5-3.
Everything went Hillgrove's way against Douglas County when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as Hillgrove made off with a 76-52 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hillgrove since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
