Rowan County had a senior duo take command as Colby Wilburn scored 25 points and Brayden Mirus dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 assists. Wilburn has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 14 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Weston Maxey, who scored 15 points.
Breathitt County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braxton Terry, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Canaan Gross, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Rowan County pushed their record up to 11-6 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for Breathitt County, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-5.
Rowan County will head out on the road to square off against Bath County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bath County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings (they are ranked 225th, while Rowan County is ranked 48th). As for Breathitt County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Danville Christian Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Danville Christian Academy is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.
