Basketball Recap: Corona Skates Past Lakeside with Ease

Corona had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.2 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They really took it to the Lakeside Lancers for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-38 victory. The Panthers pushed the score to 58-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lancers had little chance of recovering from.

Several Lancers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Davion Dickerson, who posted 12 points and three steals. Dickerson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Justin Jones, who had six points in addition to five rebounds and three blocks.

Corona's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.6 points. As for Lakeside, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

Corona will head out to challenge Chaparral at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Corona knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Chaparral likes a good challenge. As for Lakeside, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Citrus Hill at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Citrus Hill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.8 points per game this season.
