
Kenton (Ohio) quarterback Maty Mauk is the MaxPreps U.S. Air Force Medium School Player of the Year after setting five national passing records.

When you gain more yards than any other high school player at your position, then you become the easy choice for national player of the year.
The only problem is that was the case for a pair of players named to this year's MaxPreps Medium Schools All-American Team, presented by the U.S. Air Force.
Maty Mauk of Kenton (Ohio) became the all-time national leader for career passing yards and a number of other passing statistics while finishing just short of winning an Ohio Division IV state championship.
Meanwhile Hillcrest senior receiver Dorial Green-Beckham moved into first place on the all-time national receiving yardage list while leading his team to an 11-2 record. He finished his career with 297 receptions for 6,456 yards and 72 touchdowns.
However Mauk gets the nod here, considering that he now holds the national record for career passing yards (18,929 yards), touchdown passes (219), attempts (2,083), completions (1,336) and total offensive yards (22,036).
Mauk was also named the Ohio Player of the Year by JJ Huddle and he was the Ohio Division IV Offensive Player of the Year. He led Kenton to a 14-1 record, falling just short of winning a state title.
A player is considered for the medium schools all-american team if his school plays in a state enrollment division that generally has between 1,000 and 2,000 students.

including 447 yards receiving in one game against Elkhart Central.

Dotson made the all-state large school first team by the Arizona Football Coaches Association and the Arizona Republic and was reportedly the leading vote-getter by the coaches among linemen in the state.
Zach Banner, OL, 6-9, 335, Lakes (Lakewood, Wash.), UndecidedAn all-area pick by The News Tribune and an all-state pick by the Seattle Times, the enormous Banner starred on a Lakes team that enjoyed a very impressive season.

John Theus, OL, 6-3, 301, Bolles (Jacksonville, Fla.), GeorgiaTheus helped lead Bolles to the Florida Class 3A state championship and a 16-1 record. He also earned all-state honors by the Florida Sportswriters Association and All-First Coast recognition by the Jacksonville Times Union.
Derek Edinburgh, OL, 6-7, 305, Karr (New Orleans), LSUOne of the state's top recruits, Edinburgh was a Class 4A all-state pick by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association on a very talented Karr squad.
Maty Mauk, QB, 6-2, 195, Kenton (Ohio), MissouriMauk finished his career with multiple national records. As a senior, he completed 382 of 566 passes for 5,413 yards and 68 touchdowns while rushing 241 times for 1,768 yards and 24 scores.

The Big School Player of the Year according to the Arizona Republic, Foster rushed 234 times for 3,058 yards and 54 touchdowns and made 13 catches for 250 yards and five scores. He also scored a touchdown on defense, in addition to 10 in one game on offense. Videos
Randy "Duke" Johnson, RB, 5-10, 185, Norland (Miami), MiamiThe University of Miami commit rushed 208 times for 2,087 yards and 29 touchdowns as Norland finished unbeaten as Class 5A state champions.
Rushel Shell, RB, 5-11, 215, Hopewell (Aliquippa, Pa.), PittsburghShell, the Class AAA Offensive Player of the Year, rushed 311 times for 2,312 yards and 28 touchdowns. He graduates as the state's all-time leading rusher with 9,078 yards.
Cole Hedlund, K, 5-9, 150, Argyle (Texas), SophomoreHedlund set a national record by kicking 25 field goals. He finished 25 of 30 and made 73 of 75 PATs and earned Texas Class 3A all-state honors.
DJ Nelson, ATH, 5-9, 160, Logan (Utah), Utah StateNelson was a sensational high school football player in 2011. He finished with 3,489 passing yards and 49 touchdowns to go along with 1,605 rushing yards and 24 scores as Logan finished the year undefeated. He was named the Utah Class 5A state player of the year by the Deseret News.
