The Shelter Island Islanders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their ninth straight loss. They fell to Ross 35-30. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Shelter Island of the 52-36 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Shelter Island's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Evan Weslek, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Harrison Weslek who scored ten points along with five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Weslek grabbed two or more steals.
Shelter Island dropped their record down to 1-15 with that defeat, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Ross, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
Shelter Island will head out on the road to face off against Bridgehampton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Bridgehampton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully Shelter Island likes a good challenge. As for Ross, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Southold at 5:45 p.m.
