Coleman is on a three-game streak of home losses, the Wolverines a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Coleman Comets will take on the Vestaburg Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Friday, Coleman suffered a tough 35-15 defeat at the hands of the Vandals. Coleman has struggled against the Vandals recently, as their game on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Coleman had strong showings from Nevaeh Chaffee, who scored five points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Nora Brownlee, who scored no points. Chaffee is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Coleman struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Vestaburg took a serious blow against the Irish on Friday, falling 62-13. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Vestaburg has scored all season.
Coleman's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Vestaburg, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Coleman have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Vestaburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Coleman came up short against the Wolverines when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 43-34. Can Coleman avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
