Softball Recap: Southwest SD Has No Trouble Against Mount Miguel

Southwest SD made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Mount Miguel, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Everything went the Southwest SD Raiders' way against the Mount Miguel Matadors on Tuesday as the Southwest SD Raiders made off with a 9-3 win. Considering the Raiders have won three contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Daniela Nieto spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Southwest SD got a big performance out of Romina Diaz, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Diaz also hit two doubles, marking her first of the season. Samantha Ramirez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 4-for-4.

The victory got Southwest SD back to even at 3-3.

Looking ahead, Southwest SD will face off against Monte Vista at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Southwest SD is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.8 runs per game this season. As for Mount Miguel, they will challenge Orange Glen at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
