Brownsburg has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Hamilton Southeastern Royals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Brownsburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
Brownsburg pushed their score all the way to 57, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 61-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Noblesville. While losing is never fun, Brownsburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Noblesville is ranked third).
Brownsburg's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Grant Porath, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Jordan Lomax who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Porath is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Spencer Porath, who scored three points along with two steals.
Brownsburg struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, even though Southport scored an imposing 69 points on Saturday, Hamilton Southeastern still came out on top. Hamilton Southeastern managed a 75-69 victory over Southport. That's two games straight that Hamilton Southeastern has won by exactly six points.
Nate Orr and Donovan Hamilton were among the main playmakers for Hamilton Southeastern as the former shot 5-for-9 from long range and almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds and the latter scored 26 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hamilton has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Deion Miles, who scored six points along with five assists and two steals.
Brownsburg's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-10. As for Hamilton Southeastern, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Porath and Hamilton. Porath has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 14 points, 2.1 steals, and 3.2 rebounds. For his part, Hamilton has averaged 14.5 points and 1.6 steals.
Brownsburg came up short against Hamilton Southeastern when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 60-54. Thankfully for Brownsburg, Rephaim Stevenson (who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 14 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
