The Hargrave Military Academy Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Fishburne Military Caissons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Hargrave Military Academy played against Blue Ridge on Thursday and won via forfeit.
The team relied heavily on Miles Rountrey, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Michael Delaney was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Fishburne Military is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 17-3 margin over Eastern Mennonite on Thursday. The Caissons haven't had any issues with the Flames recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Cooper Ezersky was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Ezersky was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.
In other batting news, Fishburne Military got a massive performance out of Mason Worsham, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base was Worsham's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Michael Mazzetti, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI and one run.
Fishburne Military kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Hargrave Military Academy moved to 3-10 with that victory, which also ended their six-game losing streak. As for Fishburne Military, their record now sits at 3-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hargrave Military Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Fishburne Military struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Hargrave Military Academy took their win against Fishburne Military in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 9-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
