Softball Recap: Richland's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

After flying high against Ryan last Tuesday, Richland came back down to earth. The Richland Royals took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Birdville Hawks on Friday. The Royals' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Richland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Stacy Jennings, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. Another was Alyssa Flores, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Richland's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 11-4-2. As for Birdville, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 17-2.

Coincidentally, Richland and Birdville will both be playing Grapevine the next time they take the field. Birdville will head out to face Grapevine at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while Richland will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
