The Southwest Roughriders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell 52-40 to Southern Valley. Southwest has not had much luck with Southern Valley recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Southwest lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nathan Rippe, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hunter Blume, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Southern Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tate Weatherwax out in front who scored ten points. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamden Bose, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Southwest's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Southern Valley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-4.
Southwest will head out on the road to face off against Franklin at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Franklin is ranked 232nd, while Southwest is ranked 224th). Southern Valley will be staying on the road on December 28th to face off against Blue Hill at 7:00 p.m. on December 28th.
