With a playoff win on the line, Olmsted Falls rose to the challenge on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Hoover Vikings. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their 12th in a row.
Olmsted Falls had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-21, 25-22, 25-18.
Maya Awad paced Olmsted Falls' offense, picking up 18 kills. Awad got some help from Anna Minadeo and her 20 assists. Emily Odon controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Hoover's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mallory Stutzman, who had 28 digs and three assists, and Avery Allman, who had 12 digs. Stutzman is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last 17 games she's played.
Olmsted Falls' victory bumped their record up to 21-4. As for Hoover, they moved to 18-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-match winning streak.
Olmsted Falls wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against Magnificat on the 1st. Hoover does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
