III Southern recap Sept. 26, 2012
Needles was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in III Southern. The Mustangs vanquished White Pine 14-6 earlier in the week.
Lincoln County extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Lake Mead Academy, 53-6. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Lynx.
Jacob Gleason put up the best numbers through the air as Meadows lost to Agassi Prep. He finished with a total of six completions for 54 yards and two touchdowns. Gleason's favorite target this week was Bryson Bickart, who caught two passes for 30 yards.
Adonis Morris made the biggest impact on defense this week as Mountain View Christian defeated Laughlin. The senior grabbed one interception.
Travis Wallace was the best wideout in the league this week as the Saints bested the Cougars. Wallace racked up one reception for 50 yards. Jacob Duldulao helped Mountain View Christian's passing attack out by catching one ball for two yards.
Matthew Larson was the most productive running back in III Southern this week. In 23 carries, he ran for 154 yards as Mountain View Christian defeated Laughlin. Duldulao also contributed to the rushing game with 70 yards on the ground.
Calvary Chapel Christian's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Lions feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Riley Clark has thrown for 667 yards and seven touchdowns this season, while Chris Basilio has 13 catches for 220 yards. A.J Davis leads the league in rushing with 599 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Lincoln County takes on Needles. At the moment, the Lynx are in second, while Dave Smith's team is in third.
Agassi Prep and the Mustangs played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Agassi Prep eventually emerging with a 34-28 victory.
