St. Mary extended the longest winning streak in 1A District 4 this week by beating Montgomery, 14-6. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Tigers.
Block led the league in scoring this week after putting up 40 points on LaSalle.
The Tigers' dynamic duo of Chris Sykes and Ladarius Washington proved tough for St. Mary to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Sykes threw for 218 yards and one touchdown and Washington had 93 yards receiving. Bijon Washington helped Montgomery's passing attack out by catching six balls for 75 yards.
Demarcus Smith was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 88 yards as the Tigers lost to Charlie Cryer's team. Cole Hendrix also contributed to the rushing game with 13 yards on the ground.
6-foot-4 quarterback Hendrix of LaSalle is the league leader in passing yards this season with 815. He has also thrown nine touchdowns. On the ground, Brian Williams' team's James Davis has rushed for 590 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Tyrell Foster. The Montgomery star has 10 catches for 286 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Tigers take on the Bears. Montgomery's offense has racked up 226 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Block has allowed only 120 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Tigers take on Benny Vault's team. As it stands, Montgomery is in second, while the Bears are in third.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Tigers take on Block. Montgomery has allowed 125 points this season, while the Bears have given up 120. The Tigers allowed 14 points last week as they fell to the Tigers.
