The King Panthers will face off against the Channelview Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
King put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past West Brook 62-7 at home. The win was just what King needed coming off of a 33-12 defeat in their prior contest.
Darius Clark-James was a one-man wrecking crew for King as he threw for 381 yards and five touchdowns while completing 84.2% of his passes, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Dionne Cf sims was another key contributor, rushing for 128 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
King's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. In that department, K'mard Kimble was the leader with two sacks.
Meanwhile, Channelview didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Pasadena Memorial on Saturday, but they still walked away with a 45-40 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Channelview.
Traveon Jackson and Tyrone Scyrus were among the main playmakers for Channelview as the former rushed for 129 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries and the latter rushed for 224 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Wheelock, who rushed for six yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped King to 7-3 and Channelview to 5-5.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. King has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 444.5 total yards per game. However, it's not like Channelview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 380.1 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
Everything came up roses for King against Channelview in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 70-14 win. Will King repeat their success, or does Channelview have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
