River Valley is 1-8 against Nevada Union since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The River Valley Falcons will look to defend their home field against the Nevada Union Miners at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
River Valley took a loss when they played away from home last Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 9-3 margin over Live Oak. The Falcons not only won last Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 7, 2024.
JAXON COUNTS was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He also put up two RBI, which were his first of the season. ELOY SAINZ was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Nevada Union entered their tilt with South Tahoe on Tuesday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Vikings a 12-0 shutout.
Carter Van Matre looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Xavier Deniz, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Bryan, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Nevada Union was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
Nevada Union's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for River Valley, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
River Valley suffered a grim 10-2 defeat to Nevada Union in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can River Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
