Rowan Atkinson looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Sumrall is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 1-2 otherwise.
At the plate, Leo Odom was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Drew Davis also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.
Sumrall always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for South Jones, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They put the hurt on D'Iberville with a sharp 11-2 win on Tuesday.
Dylan Causey made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cambridge McDaniel, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Eyan Butler, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI.
Sumrall pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for South Jones, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
