Even though the Stanton Blue Devils have not done well against the Trinity Christian Academy Conquerors recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Stanton walked away with a 61-51 victory over Trinity Christian Academy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Stanton.
Leading Stanton to victory were Surafel Cummings and David Burton. Cummings scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Burton dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Burton has scored all season. Christian Ricks was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Ethan Wheeler and Cameron Anderson certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Wheeler dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds, while Anderson scored 11 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Wheeler scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Martinez, who scored 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Trinity Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stanton only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.
Stanton pushed their record up to 12-6 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Trinity Christian Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stanton will stay at home for another game and welcome Englewood at 7:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Trinity Christian Academy will take on Zarephath Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
