For the first time this season, Crimson Cliffs will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will square off against the Desert Hills Thunder at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Crimson Cliffs has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight losses, while Desert Hills will come in with eight straight wins.
Crimson Cliffs saw some tournament action on Thursday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 11-1 to Santa Margarita, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Desert Hills). They put the hurt on Union with a sharp 21-1 victory on Saturday. Considering the Thunder have won 11 contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Desert Hills got a massive performance out of Asher Williams, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Briggs Fillmore, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Desert Hills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2025.
Desert Hills' win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Crimson Cliffs, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 6-6.
Crimson Cliffs came out on top in a nail-biter against Desert Hills when the teams last played back in May of 2025, sneaking past 2-0. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Thunder have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
