The West St. John Rams will welcome the General Trass Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
West St. John's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Centerville 46-0. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Rams had established a 38-point advantage.
West St. John relied on the efforts of Achtion Barnes, who threw for 145 yards and two TDs on only 13 passes, and Kalon Gardner, who gained 124 total yards and a touchdown. Gardner got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 62 yards. Xavier Poche was in the mix too, providing West St. John with one touchdown.
West St. John's run defense was locked in: Centerville could only muster -0.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Za'Kyrin Howard for the heroic effort on defense: he. That's the most yards per carry they've posted since back in September.
West St. John's defense didn't let Jaxon Frederick, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for five sacks. Howard refused to say out of the backfield, picking up three sacks all by himself. West St. John got some further help from Howard: he picked up three sacks, forced one fumble, and made 16 total tackles (4.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for General Trass, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They took their game on Thursday with ease, bagging a 62-26 win over Delhi. The Panthers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
General Trass' win came from a few key players West St. John will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jaden Weaver, who rushed for 65 yards and three scores on only nine carries, and also picked up 40 receiving yards and one TD. He has become a key player for General Trass: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise. Keimare Campbell was another key player, throwing for 142 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten passes.
General Trass didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Damarion Berry, Jamarion Powell, and J'Bion Newson picked up one apiece. Newson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
General Trass is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.6 points over those games. As for West St. John, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
