The Center Roughriders lost against the Carthage Bulldogs back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Center was outmatched by Carthage at home and fell 72-27. It was the first time this season that Center let down their fans at home.
Several Roughriders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kaden Dixon, who rushed for 157 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Emonte Cross, who rushed for 36 yards and a touchdown.
Carthage found their leader in underclassman Jett Surratt, who threw for 413 yards and six touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes. Surratt is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Mikel Fields was another key contributor, picking up 137 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Center's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Carthage, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Center will head out on the road to face off against Bullard at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Carthage, they will be playing at home against Van at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Van is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
