Hayden Moore made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
In other batting news, Cooper McKeel was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Meanwhile, Varnum started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Union City. They fell 7-4 to the Tigers on Friday. The Whippets haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Konawa pushed their record up to 9-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Varnum, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
