Softball Recap: Ira Wins Going Away Against Marfa

Ira won the last time they faced Marfa and things went their way on Thursday too. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Shorthorns. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Ella Robertson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Chloe Juarez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Ira always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .769. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Ira and bumps their season record up to 9-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Marfa, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Ira will square off against Westbrook at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games. Marfa does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
