Softball Recap: Maumee Wins Going Away Against Rossford

Maumee won against Fostoria on Wednesday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over the Rossford Bulldogs. Considering the Panthers have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Hannah Ruiz was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Maumee got a massive performance out of Julia Coutcher, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Reign Hurt was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Maumee now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Rossford, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Maumee will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Southview at 5:00 p.m. As for Rossford, they will head out to square off against Otsego at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
