The Hamilton Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Melrose Golden Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hamilton has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 333 points over their last five contests.
Even though Kirby scored an imposing 68 points on Friday, Hamilton still came out on top. Hamilton snuck past the Cougars with a 73-68 win.
Hamilton's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Timothy Matthews, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds, and Devan McGee, who scored 30 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which McGee has scored at least a third of Hamilton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rodney Mcneal, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Melrose unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They lost to Ridgeway on the road by a decisive 79-63 margin. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Hamilton's win bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Melrose, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-7.
Hamilton couldn't quite finish off the Golden Wildcats when the teams last played on Monday and fell 70-67. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Melrose's Devin Sanders Jr, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 18 rebounds.
