The Hillside Hornets had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.2 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat East Chapel Hill 64-28 at home. Hillside has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 21 points or more this season.
Hillside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Samiyah Barker led the charge by scoring 14 points along with five steals. Barker is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Kynnedy Roberts was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
Hillside is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for East Chapel Hill, they bumped their record down to 6-9 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Hillside will be playing at home against Chapel Hill at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Chapel Hill focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Friday. East Chapel Hill will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Riverside-Durham at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd.
