The Lowcountry Leadership NaviGators struggled with offensive rebounds on Thursday (the Bridges Prep Buccaneers had 16 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Lowcountry Leadership took a 35-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bridges Prep. Lowcountry Leadership has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lowcountry Leadership's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keziah Darby, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. Another player making a difference was Dawn West, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds.
Bridges Prep found their leader in underclassman Makayla Lapp, who scored 24 points along with four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lapp has scored at least 25% of Bridges Prep's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zariyah Henry, who scored two points along with 12 rebounds.
Lowcountry Leadership's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Bridges Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 1-2.
Lowcountry Leadership will head out on the road to face off against Charleston Collegiate on Friday. Charleston Collegiate is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Bridges Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Memorial Day at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Memorial Day will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 502nd in Georgia, while Bridges Prep is ranked 235th in South Carolina).
