California extended the longest winning streak in Del Rio this week by beating Schurr, 27-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Condors.
California was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in the league. Earlier in the week, Jim Arnold's team defeated the Spartans 27-7.
La Serna's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Frankie Palmer threw for 87 yards and D'andre Sanchez had 36 yards receiving. On the ground Bryce Oliver chipped in 54 yards. John McFarland helped La Serna's passing attack out by catching one ball for 26 yards.
5-foot-10 quarterback Palmer of the Lancers is the league leader in passing yards this season with 780. He has also thrown five touchdowns. On the ground, El Rancho's JOE SANCHEZ has rushed for 637 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is JAVIER CARILLO. The El Rancho star has 21 catches for 304 yards.
La Serna moved up to 92 from 167 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Del Rio. Margarito Beltran's team climbed the ranks as a result of a 39-16 win over Margarito Beltran's team.
