The Bear Grass Charter Bears stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 56-27 win over Hobgood Charter at home. The win was nothing new for Bear Grass Charter as they're now sitting on four straight.
Bear Grass Charter was led to victory by Aubrey Dotson and Caroline Harrell. Dotson scored ten points along with seven steals and six rebounds, while Harrell scored ten points along with four steals. Harrell has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. Hylee (Al) Jarrett was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, Hobgood Charter still got an impressive performance from Madison Betts, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and four steals. It was the first time this season that Betts pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Hobgood Charter struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Bear Grass Charter racked up 14 assists.
Bear Grass Charter is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Hobgood Charter, they dropped their record down to 4-6 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bear Grass Charter will take on the Lakers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mattamuskeet comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last ten games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Hobgood Charter, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Dolphins at 5:00 p.m. Ocracoke is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
