The Garfield Bulldogs have the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome the Gardena Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Garfield has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 556 points over their last 11 games.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Garfield had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They strolled past San Pedro with points to spare, taking the game 38-21. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Garfield was the (much) better team in the second half.
Damian Cornejo got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 233 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, Gardena waltzed into Thursday's matchup with two straight wins but they left with three. They secured a 14-10 W over Palisades.
Garfield's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 10-1 Franklin and 10-2 Eagle Rock (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 58.1% over those games). As for Gardena, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.
